W. Chester Short Festival announces 2025 lineup

The West Chester International Short Film Festival announced the lineup for the 2025 Festival. Beginning Friday, April 25th and running through Sunday, April 27th, the Festival will feature a total of 67 short films which will be presented in show blocks, pop-up events, panels, and more.

This year’s lineup features a diverse selection of short films from various genres, countries, and cultures, giving audiences a chance to experience a wide range of stories and perspectives from around the world.

Film highlights include:

  • In the Shadow of the Cypress, the winner of the Academy Award for Best Short Film (Animated) at the 2025 Oscars, explores trauma, family, and the impact of war.

  • LYZ, a fresh, off-beat dramedy that follows a passionate mental health worker as she struggles to balance her uniquely challenging job with keeping a promise to her daughter.

  • The Last Ranger, an Oscar-nominated drama from South Africa is a powerful human story that shines a light on the atrocities of rhino poaching.

  • Crust, a comedy about a twelve-year-old boy trying to prove to his family that he belongs.

  • The Third Country, a documentary on young Burmese refugees who are balancing difficult everyday lives with resilience and compassion, looking for brighter futures in America.

  • Beside Myself, a poem/film that engages the reader/viewer to trade places with the poet for a generative new thing that can, with your help, change the world.

About the West Chester Film Festival:

The West Chester International Short Film Festival celebrates the spirit of independent filmmaking and diverse voices from around the world with an annual three-day festival the last weekend of April in Downtown West Chester, PA. Films from dozens of countries, all thirty minutes or less, are shown in two-hour film blocks at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center. It is an exciting flurry of short film blocks, workshops led by industry professionals, networking events, fantastic parties, and more.
