Unionville swimmers taking care of business as districts approach

Indians look to finish strong regular season with win at Coatesville

Unionville boys and grils swiiming has set the tone in the Ches-Mont league, with the boys capturing their second title in as many years.

KENNETT SQUARE– The following was provided by Unionville head coach Erin Carey- The UHS Girls Swimming & Diving team beat Great Valley 97-68 on Saturday night.  The win brings the team’s overall record to 8-1.  Mackenzie Hornibrook and Emma Werkiser were quadruple winners for the Indians.  ErinPolries was a triple winner and Meg Musser and Christina Tascione each wonan event a piece.  Laura Barthold, Katie Garvey, and Cyndi Kline swam well for the team.  Two more girls were added to District team when Lauren Stabler and Meg Musser qualified for Districts in the 100 butterfly and100 backstroke respectively.  The team wraps up their dual meet season this Friday against Coatesville.

The UHS Boys Swimming & Diving team clinched the Chesmont American Division title with their close win against Great Valley on Saturday night 88-82.  Everyone contributed to the win and there were numerous best times throughout the meet.  Matt Drohan was a quadruple winner, Chris Barthold was a double winner, and Tommy Ferree was a single winner for the Indians.

Greg Buckley, Brandon Smiddy, and Dakin Bond swam well for the team.  The following swimmers qualified for Districts: Jason Smiddy in the 500 freestyle, Tommy Ferree in the 100 breaststroke, Dakin Bond in the 100 freestyle, and Chris Barthold in the 100 freestyle.  The team will finishtheir dual meet season against Coatesville this Friday.
