POCOPSON — Junior Troop 41184 from Pocopson Elementary School teamed up with Fluffy’s Blankets, an organization that provides bags of cheer to the owners of pets who are suffering from serious veterinary concerns.
The eight 5th grade girls put together 13 bags that contained warm blankets, pet toys, homemade dog treats, and a special something for the owner. The girls also made two pet beds to be distributed by Fluffy’s Blankets. In order to further help the organization grow the girls each shared their feelings about the work of Fluffy’s Blankets and gave quotes that can be used on their website. Members of the Troop are Rebecca Daily, Alaina Darlington, Sarah Garrison, Sara Harkins, Janet McGann, Gianna Sparta, Sophia Thorpe and Liz Tuinstra.
The girls of Troop 41184 earned their Bronze award working on this project. They spent more than 20 hours, planning and working on the gift bags. They met with a representative from Fluffy’s Blankets and spent time sharing their own personal stories of pets in need. The award is this highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can achieve. The troop is led by Kerrie Garisson and the assistant leader is Stephanie McGann. More information on Fluffy’s Blankets can be found at www.fluffysblankets.com
