The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for volunteer parade marshals for the 2024 West Chester Christmas Parade. It’s an opportunity to get inside access to Chester County’s most popular hometown Christmas parade as well as the closest front-row seats available along the eight-block parade route on Friday, December 6. The West Chester Christmas Parade is accepting applications for 125 parade marshals as 13-foot-tall floats, local Olympians and the 2024 Mummers Champion String Band prepare for the parade on Friday, December 6 sponsored by Chester County Hospital and presented by the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce.

“This is a big year for us, with an all-star lineup of performers joining our area’s top marching bands along the eight-block parade route of our historic streets,” said Katie Walker, President of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. “Our volunteer parade marshals are always vital to our success, and this is an ideal opportunity to get to know your neighbors while building team camaraderie within your business or organization.”

The parade starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 6. It’s preceded by West Chester’s Tree Lighting at 6:30 p.m. that features performances by the West Chester University Gospel Choir, Brandywine Singers, Miss Pennsylvania, West Chester Area School District Elementary Honors Choir, Valotta Children’s Choir and much more.

Wearing an official West Chester Christmas Parade fuzzy winter hat, donated by West Pharmaceutical Services, parade marshals ensure spectators are safely on sidewalks, move the parade along and assist with some clean-up. For those who prefer an alternative role, the Greater West Chester Chamber is seeking about 15 volunteers to help with setup and breakdown of the main stage area before and after the parade. Sign-ups are at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E4EA8A929AAFB6-2023#/ or at www.GWCC.org.

Registered volunteers will receive emails in mid- to late November providing instructions on where and when to report on the day of the parade. It all culminates with the much-anticipated arrival of Santa, as 6abc Meteorologist Adam Joseph returns as emcee and is joined for the first time by WMMR radio host Kathy Romano of The Preston & Steve Show.
