Knapp’s artwork to be shown at Uptown!, Oct 4

Chester County artist Gwenn Knapp—known for the stunning photo-realism of her work—will kick off a solo exhibit at West Chester’s Uptown! theater on Friday, October 4, from 4 to 8 pm—coinciding with West Chester’s Gallery Walk.
Aptly titled “Dreams & Drama,” the exhibit includes vibrant new paintings of people passionately involved in doing what they love—many of them on stage at Uptown!. Others are playing sports, are making things, or are just experiencing a joyful moment in their life.
Ms. Knapp’s sharp eye and precise brushwork create an energy and exuberance that leaps off the canvas in these new works. Each piece conveys the joy that people experience when they are doing the things they care about most. As Ms. Knapp explains, “Through my paintings I hope to stir memories, spark feelings and inspire others to take a closer look at the world.” She trusts that viewers of her new work will have that experience.

This is the first year that Uptown! will participate in West Chester’s Gallery Walk. The theater is located at 226 North High Street. Ms. Knapp’s exhibit runs through the end of December.
Ms. Knapp earned a B.A in Fine Arts from Bucknell University and a Certificate in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She was art director of her own graphic design studio for 30 years, first in New York, and then in West Chester. A woman of diverse talents, she also served as Magisterial District Judge in West Chester for 12 years before settling into fulltime work as a painter.
