First West Chester Fire Company is turning 225 years old! The fire company is the oldest fire company in Chester County and one of the oldest continually operating volunteer fire companies in the nation. To celebrate this milestone, First West Chester is hosting a community block party on Wednesday, September 4th from 5 pm to 9 pm on Church Street between Gay Street and Market Street. This is the location of their old firehouse which is currently Slow Hand Restaurant. Slow Hand will feature a special cocktail during the event, so make sure to stop in and get something to eat!

The community block party will feature live music, a bounce house, clows, balloon art, fire trucks, and more! “We’re excited to announce our feature event, the West Chester Community Celebrity Dunk Tank! Dana DiDomenico, Councilman Bernie Flynn, Borough Council President Patrick McCoy, Chief Josh Lee, and Parking Director Ramsey Reiner will all take turns in the tank. All funds raised will help support the fire company,” said 225th Anniversary Chairman Steve Pelna.

“First West Chester Fire Company has a long and storied history of serving the West Chester community,” said President Andy Rongaus “We have a lot of pride in what our volunteers do on a daily basis and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary than with the community that we love.”
