COATESVILLE — Start your engines! Registration is now open for drivers and owners of vintage race cars and motorcycles who would like to compete in the Fourth Annual Coatesville Invitational Vintage Grand Prix on Saturday, September 21 from 8:30am to 5pm. Registration deadline is August 31, 2019.
Vendors and sponsors are also welcome to register. The event is expected to attract 5,000 people from Chester County and the Delaware Valley, and has quickly become one of the city of Coatesville’s biggest community extravaganzas. www.coatesvillegrandprix.com
Drivers and owners of vintage race cars dating from 1900 to 1970, and motorcycles from 1940 to 1970, will compete individually over a challenging 2.2-mile road course on the oldest highway in America, complete with old-style hay bales. Trophies will be awarded for best overall performance and for each of five driving groups. A new sixth category has been added, the Lunchtime Touring Group, open to all vintage non-racing road cars from 1900 to 1970. With a registration fee of just $50, the new Touring Group category provides a chance to be part of the action with a 20-minute run led by a pace car, as well as the opportunity to park in the paddock with the race cars and bikes.
In addition to a full day of racing excitement, guests can enjoy family fun featuring great food, the Victory Brewing beer garden, music, specialty vendors and post-racing awards and entertainment. The event is free to the public and net funds raised benefit the City of Coatesville’s Parks and Recreation Capital Projects.
