Peter Hissey is coming to Wilmington on Thursday for a four game series with the Salem Red Sox versus the Wilmington Blue Rocks! Peter is a 2008 graduate Of Unionville High School who signed with the Red Sox for a cool $1 million as a fourth round draft pick. The lefty standing at 6 “1 and 180 pounds is in his fourth season as a minor leaguer in the farm program for the Boston Red Sox.
The Salem Red Sox are part of the Southern Division of the Carolina League. The CAR Southern league is Single (advanced) Class A minor league baseball. The Salem Red Sox sit in 4th place in the Southern division while the Blue Rocks are in second place of the Northern Division. Hissey has played in 78 games and has 25 doubles and a .245 batting average according to the Minor league stats page.
Games in Wilmington are starting on Thursday, August 18th at 7:05 p.m., Friday, the 19th at 7:05 p.m. and then Saturday at 6:05 p.m. and 1:35 p.m. for Sunday. On Thursday and Friday night there are fireworks at Dan Frawley Stadium. On Friday night country star James Wesley will be singing pre and post game as well.
Tickets range from $6 – $10 for entrance to the games. It is a fun filled and inexpensive night out for the family. And it should be a bit more fun to be cheering on one of our own at the ball park.
One of my facebook contacts The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation had the following posting on Monday. Andrew McDonough has a cousin Kalyn McDonough who graduated from Unionville and an Aunt who works in the office, Kalyn’s Mother Patti.
