WEST CHESTER — Gun Sense Chester County (formerly The Chester County Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence) is re-launching with a new name, organization structure and an open, public education meeting on April 11th at 7:15 PM at the Church of Loving Shepherd, 1066 South New Street, West Chester.
The meeting topic is “Guns Around Town: Current & Proposed Regulations”. The goal is to educate citizens who hear about gun violence every day yet often don’t know about gun laws. Jeff Dempsey of CeaseFire PA will be the speaker. Community members are encouraged and welcome to attend. Admittance is free, reservations are not required.
Ann Cummings, Chairperson of Gun Sense Chester County, will also make brief remarks on the vision and mission of Gun Sense Chester County.
Cummings states, “We have a new concept. We want to talk with all citizens, gun owners and non-gun owners alike, about ways to protect all of our freedoms and increase gun safety for individuals and our communities.”
Cummings notes that while Second Amendment rights have been widely discussed, the opinions of non-gun owning citizens must also be considered. “When, where and in what manner guns are present in our communities is central to the evolution of our culture. We want to help people with diverse viewpoints have a respectful dialog to find common ground.”
Gun Sense Chester County was formerly the Chester County Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence, a well-recognized advocacy group established by West Chester resident Tom Buglio in 2012 following the gun violence tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. Buglio serves as a Board Member for Gun Sense Chester County.
The organization is online at: www.gunsensecc.com, on Facebook, or by email at gunsensecc@gmail.com. Donations (made out to Gun Sense Chester County) can be sent to 1549 Millrace Lane, West Chester PA 19380.
It’s good to see that people are getting together to talk about real solutions to the epidemic of gun violence. Thank you for taking a stand.
Different name, same evil advocacy of infringing the human right to effective self-defense (with “gun control” “gun sense” “gun violence prevention” that only disarms sober, mentally-sound, law-abiders) in order to guarantee violent criminals’ safety.
