UHS Girls relay team takes 4th at Penn Relays

ChYFL85XEAE3VwfThe Distance Medley Relay Team from Unionville High School of Kacie Breeding, Lyndsay Hastings, Cami Rickenbach and Anna Juul placed 4th in the Penn Relays Championship of America with a time of 11:58.16. The time is the number one Pennsylvania time and a new school record. Their splits were 3:37.54 for Kacie Breeding, Hastings ran 1:02.55 and Rickenbach ran the 800 in 2:22.21, anchoring was Anna Juul in a 4:55.86.

A distance medley consists of the following events in the 4 person relay:  1200 meter leg (three laps on a standard 400 meter track), a 400 meter leg (one lap), an 800 meter leg (two laps), and a 1600 meter leg (four laps) in that order. The total distance run is 4000 meters, or nearly 2.5 miles.  

The Penn Relays is the oldest track meet in America and is run at Franklin Field at University of Penn at the end of April every year.   It  coincides with the Unionville Invitational which took place last Saturday with the largest amount of participants ever at the annual event.  Results can be found at Pennxc.com  — Hannah Christopher
