Six items to freshen the look of your home for Spring
By Kelly Hockenberry, Columnist, The Times
Happy April everyone! I wanted to dedicate this Super Six to sprucing up the house for SPRING. And, by sprucing I mean buying new things…not cleaning (because there’s nothing attractive about scrubbing screens or wiping down baseboards. Yawn.) Just like the change in season demands a wardrobe overhaul, I think it’s a perfect time to take inventory of your decor, too.
- Lip Pillowcases I mean, how cute?! In the warmer months, I like to switch up my bedding to all white. These cases will add a tiny pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic color scheme. Shop http://shopbetches.com/
- Painted Plank Wall I found this blog post about a doityourself plank wall that actually seems pretty simple. In fact, I’m confident that I could sit back and watch my husband install it over the course of a weekend! He really loves when I find projects on the internet. (insert eye roll emoji). Check out the instructions here: http://bit.ly/VTkj42
- Outdoor Monogram A wreath on the front door is OK…but something a bit more unique makes your home stand out from the rest of the block. I love this monogram, made out of weatherproof materials, prominently displayed to welcome guests. Personally, I would paint it in a bold color to add extra flair. Shop here: http://etsy.me/1N3Qcve
- Fiddle Leaf Fig I have been on the search for this plant for the longest time. Every once in awhile you can find them at places like Home Depot or IKEA. They aren’t cheap and I don’t think they are very easy to keep alive. I found this article on how to take care of one in case I have the good fortune to purchase: http://bit.ly/1RSmpK8
- Quartz Knobs Don’t these look like earrings? They are BEAUTIFUL! I want to revive a piece of furniture by painting it and adding these knobs. Instant glamour. Purchase at Anthropologie: http://bit.ly/1RFfwcV
- Pergola I am obsessed with pergolas. I have the spot in my yard all picked out. I am not a very good gardener (by any stretch of the imagination). I think that adding a piece of architecture would distract from the wilting flowers around it. Purchase here : http://bit.ly/1RSmJbZ
