American Legion, Chesco Sheriff’s Office & A. Duie Pyle to host wreath laying for fallen Veterans

Community is encouraged to donate and attend December 12 ceremony

OXFORD – The Oxford American Legion Post and Wreaths Across America (WAA) invites the Chester County Community to consider supporting the purchase of wreaths to be placed at the headstones of 1,200 fallen veterans and honor them with a wreath laying ceremony scheduled for December 12, at the Oxford Cemetery, 220 N 3rd Street, Oxford, PA.

The ceremony will begin at 11:45 a.m.. Those interested in attending should meet at Sacred Heart Parish Church at 11:30, to process to the adjacent cemetery as a community. A veteran driver, from West Chester based trucking company A. Duie Pyle, will haul the many sponsored wreaths to the cemetery.

Wreaths Across America (WAA), a nonprofit organization was founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, announced that Oxford Cemetery has once again joined in the effort to fulfill the national WAA mission of remembering, honoring and teaching under the 2015 central theme: “Cemeteries are for the Living.” This is the eighth year that Oxford Cemetery will be participating.

The Oxford American Legion Post 535, along with the Chester County Sheriff’s Office and A. Duie Pyle Trucking, are hosting the event and have been fundraising to support the purchase of wreaths for the December 12 ceremony.  To make a donation, or to learn more, please contact WAAOxfordPA@gmail.com. All monies raised fund the purchase of wreaths only, and are sent directly to Wreaths Across America.
