WEST CHESTER — State Senator Andy Dinniman (D-19) is inviting residents to stop by his West Chester District Office for a Holiday Open House during the 36th Annual West Chester Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade on Friday and encouraged them to bring canned goods or coats to benefit those in need.
“We continue to collect canned goods and nonperishable food items year-round for the West Chester Food Cupboard and the Salvation Army of West Chester, but this holiday season the need is especially great,” Dinniman said.
Residents and families are welcome to stop by the office, located at historic One North Church Street (the corner of Church and Market Streets), during the parade on Friday, December 4 beginning at 6:15 p.m. In addition to an ideal location for parade viewing, the Open House will feature refreshments and a performance by the Chancel Bell Ringers of West Chester First Presbyterian Church.
In addition, Dinniman has again partnered with local nonprofit David’s Drive 831 to collect new or gently worn, clean men’s coats for hospitalized and homeless veterans. That collection will run until December 30 and the greatest need is for coats in larger sizes.
“Stop by, say hello and warm up during the parade,” Dinniman said. “And at the same time you can donate few canned goods, or a coat to help brighten someone else’s holiday. Together, let’s work to help ensure that no one is left hungry or cold this holiday season.”
The West Chester District Office is regularly open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please be sure to check expiration dates on food items.
