Now in its sixth year, the Pink 50 Poker Prance has become a favorite fall event for many customers and friends of Oxford Feed & Lumber. The trail ride, this year on Sunday, October 11, through beautiful Fair Hill benefits breast cancer awareness and research. All the riders receive a tee-shirt, goodie bags, and enjoy a cookout after the ride. Plus, prizes are awarded to the top 5 poker hands (riders receive cards at various checkpoints along the ride) and the 5 “most pink” horse and rider combinations.
New to the event this year are beautiful handcrafted horseshoes shaped into the breast cancer awareness logo, then painted pink and adorned with a ribbon. A name can be painted on the top of the shoe in memory or support of a loved one.
The shoes are also available before the event at both Oxford Feed & Lumber and Brandywine Ace, Pet & Farm for just $10. As several local farriers are crafting the shoes at just materials cost, we expect this to add to the donations we make to local breast cancer coalitions.
While the trail ride part of the event is horse-related, everyone is welcome at the Poker Prance. Non-riding attendees receive lunch and a special goodie bag. The horseshoes, too, are meant to appeal to riders and non-riders alike. Once again, the event will also feature an array of amazing raffle baskets. Each has a different theme including dog, horse, child and man.
Riders may start ride, from trailer parking lot on Rt. 273, Fair Hill, MD, anytime between 8 a.m. and 12 noon. To register, stop in or call Oxford Feed & Lumber, 112 Railroad Ave, Oxford, PA (610-932-8521); Brandywine Ace, Pet & Farm, 1150 Pocopson Rd., West Chester, PA (610-793-3080); or Pets & Friends, 51 Jenners Village Center, West Grove, PA (610-345-1145).
