‘Fore’ Love of Family and Country…Today, Kennett Square Golf & CC is holding its 15th annual Pro-AM charitable tournament benefiting the Folds of Honor Foundation (Patriot Golf Day) and the American Diabetes Association. Last year, the tournament raised more than $30,000 and has raised nearly $300,00 since its inception in 1999….Folds of Honor Foundation provides scholarships and assistance to the spouses and children of those killed or seriously disabled in service to America…

Lasting Legacy….The YMCA of Greater Brandywine recently announced that former West Chester area ‘Y’ board member, Charles Albert Robinson, endowed the Y’s Foundation with $1.2 million…Robinson had a life-long connection with the Y and was very inspired by its mission to serve children and families; his generosity will serve generations to come…

Fungi-fundraisers… The Mushroom Festival is here! This weekend – downtown Kennett Square. The Festival has raised more than $700,000 for local non-profits since 2000. Don’t forget the 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk’ this SUNDAY, September 13th, 8:30am at Kennett High School (start and finish.) The run is a joint venture Mushroom Festival and the Kennett Area Parks and Recreation Board. “A Helping Hand”…Starting September 23rd, Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) will begin a free, weekly client walk-in intake at the Maternal and Child Health Consortium located at the Coatesville Community Health Center (1001 East Lincoln Highway, Suite #104, Coatesville.) Wednesdays, from 2:00 -3:30 p.m., a representative from LASP will be available to help eligible low-income people with their civil legal concerns including custody, housing, benefits and other civil issues.

Spooky – Sweet Smiles….Three cheers to Keenan Auto Body for sponsoring Little Smiles Foundation’s Halloween Costume Drive…Infant through teen-sized new costumes are needed. Little Smiles is a volunteer driven, non-profit charity that helps kids in local hospitals, hospices, shelters and other like facilities…Costumes can be dropped off by October 16th to the following Keenan locations: Kennett, Avondale, Aston and Edgmont….
