Harrisburg – “Infinite Opportunities,” a half-hour, public affairs program featuring Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education universities, will premiere at 2 p.m., this Sunday, on the Pennsylvania Cable Network.
The program, which will air weekly, will feature stories about unique programs, student life and academic offerings at the 14 State System universities. It also will include interviews with university leaders and stakeholders as well as one-on-one discussions between State System leaders and the university presidents.
“The title of the program says it all,” said State System Chancellor Frank T. Brogan. “Our universities do indeed provide infinite opportunities to our students, and this program will highlight some of those opportunities while giving viewers a closer look at what makes each of the institutions special.”
The initial episode will focus on health-related programs across the State System, including the Institute for Public Health Research and Innovation at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, the Applied Behavioral Analysis Program at California University of Pennsylvania, the pre-medicine program at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and the Athletic Training Program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Chancellor Brogan also will sit down with East Stroudsburg University’s President Marcia Welsh to talk about new programs and changes at the university.
Each episode will be available for viewing at www.passhe.edu/infiniteopportunities the Wednesday after it airs on PCN, the statewide public affairs network.
Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education is the largest provider of higher education in the Commonwealth, with about 110,000 degree-seeking students and thousands more who are enrolled in certificate and other career-development programs. Collectively, the 14 universities that comprise the State System offer more than 2,300 degree and certificate programs in more than 530 academic areas. Nearly 520,000 State System university alumni live in Pennsylvania.
The State System universities are: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania. The universities also operate branch campuses in Oil City (Clarion), Freeport and Punxsutawney (IUP), and Clearfield (Lock Haven), and offer classes and programs at several regional centers, including the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg and in Center City in Philadelphia.
