YMCA hosts FREE outdoor swim Memorial Day weekend

 

Outdoor pools open to community – event places a focus water safety

On May 23, 24 & 25, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine will kick off summer by opening its outdoor pools for FREE to all members of the community. This event is designed to highlight the importance of swim lessons and water safety skills and gives families the opportunity to enjoy a day of outdoor fun at the pool.

Water safety remains a top priority for the YMCA of Greater Brandywine

With the opening of pools and the increased exposure to water at oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams which can mean danger for many children. Drowning is the second leading cause of death in children aged one to fourteen. Children are especially susceptible to water related injury and death, as many have not learned basic swim skills or how to be safe around the water.

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine wants to keep kids safe in the water this summer. On Memorial Day weekend, will open all outdoor pools to the community and offer free daily swim evaluations and swim clinics. In addition, there will be vital water safety information available for parents and children. If you join the Y during any one of these three days, the joiner fee will be waived and you’ll have access to reduced prices on programs like swim lessons to keep your kids safe this summer and for many to come.
