Pennsbury Township Manager Kathleen Howley discussing 2015 Budget issues with the members of the Board of Supervisors, Tuesday night.

PENNSBURY — The Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution to support the Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway Corridor Management Plan at Tuesday night’s meeting.

“In 2005, sections of Routes 52 and 100 were designated as scenic byways by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  The goal is to preserve our scenic, historic, cultural, and recreational resources.  This local initiative will bring townships together to improve visual aspects of these historic roads, “said Alma Forsyth, a Pennsbury Land Trust representative.

Supervisor Aaron McIntyre added, “The Pennsylvania Byway connects with the Delaware Scenic Byway near Centreville, spanning 25 miles.  The Delaware portion has a bikeway – and a bikeway up through our area has been planned. “

Other townships scheduled to join include Birmingham, Chadds Ford, East Bradford, Kennett, and Pocopson.  According to Forsyth, this project has been included in most townships’ comprehensive plans.  Township commitment includes $500 dues.

In her manager’s report, Kathleen Howley announced that the 2015 Budget has been posted since November 5th.

Supervisors Chairman Scotty Scottoline explained that it is a balanced budget with no property tax increase.  The Board then adopted the 2015 Budget.

Also, Code Enforcement Officer Rusty Drumheller said that the township’s first snowfall went well, and that there were minimal issues.

Drumheller also reported that, “Pennsbury’s building permits were triple in 2014!  We had an exceptional year due to the stronger economy and growth at Crosslands, Hawk’s Crest, and Parker Preserves.  I do not anticipate this sort of growth to continue in 2015. ”

The township’s yearly Organization Meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., followed by the regular Board of Supervisors Meeting.
