WEST CHESTER — Chester County Sheriff, Carolyn “Bunny” Welsh, will extend her gift giving far beyond close family and friends this holiday season.
She will host the first annual “Shop with the Sheriff” on Dec. 6 to benefit the Chester County Family Academy (CCFA) students and families.
Chester County Sheriff’s cars and SUVs, complete with flashing lights and sirens, will escort ninety CCFA students to Wal-‐Mart in Kennett Square. Each CCFA student will receive a $100 Wal-‐Mart gift card to purchase holiday gifts for the special people in his/her life.
Following the shopping trip, students will be escorted to the Providence Church in West Chester where they will enjoy lunch donated from local restaurants. Santa and his elves will visit and entertain children and their families with games and music. Volunteers will wrap and tag each of the gifts the children purchased so they are ready to be placed under the tree.
Welsh is asking for local support and generosity to help make this special day a successful one filled with holiday cheer.
“This is a time when a personal, unique trust is created between a child and uniformed law enforcement office,” Welsh said. “This will be a very special day for these very special children.”
All donations are tax deductible. All $50 donations will be matched by the Wal-‐Mart Corporation and provide each child with a $100 gift card to shop for their family members and themselves. Each donation is greatly appreciated.
