Sets up key league title match up with West Chester Rustin next Friday night
EAST MARLBOROUGH — Brandon Boon scored three touchdowns and Tyler Marmo returned a kickoff 71 yards to lead Unionville to a 49-6 win over Octorara, Friday night.
The win sets up a battle between the Indians (5-2 overall, 3-0 in the Ches Mont National) with West Chester Rustin — also undefeated in conference play — that could likely determine the league champion, as has been the case for the last six seasons.
But Boon, a junior, had another strong game as his evolving role in the Unionville offense has him becoming a big pass-catch threat. He hooked up with senior quarterback Alex Pechin four times for 89 yards (two for scores) and ran for 46 yards and another score. The Indians also got their usual dependable running attack from senior Austin Hofmann-Reardon, who ran for 78 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while senior Brendan Boyle rushed for 70 more.
Boon started off the offensive onslaught, catching a 65-yard scoring pass from Pechin midway through the first quarter and Unionville’s offense just too off from there.
While offense was in hyperdrive, the Indian defense was able to contain star Braves QB Alex Gooden and running back Cory Cooper — who’s been one of the top runners in the county in 2014 — and holding Octorara to less than 200 yards of total offense.
