COATESVILLE — The Brandywine Health Foundation announced the addition of two new members — Dr. Linda Thompson Adams of Newtown Square and Fred C.Travaglini of Exton — to its volunteer Board of Directors, Wednesday.
Since its inception in May 2001, the Coatesville-based public foundation has distributed more than $13 million in grants to non-profits improving health in the greater Coatesville area.
Officers include: James H. Manning, Jr., chairman (Coatesville); Dawn M. James, vice chair (Downingtown), Mark B. Myers, treasurer (Unionville) and Gregory Cary, secretary (Honeybrook).
Adams received her Dr.PH and Master of Public Health (MPH) in Child & Adolescent Health and Development, and is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Population, Family & Reproductive Health and Wayne State University. Currently she is the Dean of the Sturzbecker Health Sciences Center at West Chester University. Previously, she was a Professor of Nursing and Associate Vice Chancellor for Outreach, Professional Development & Distance Education at North Carolina A&T State University, past Dean of Nursing at Oakland University and former Associate Dean of Policy and Workforce Development at the University of Maryland, School of Nursing.
Travaglini is the Vice President Property Group, G. O. Carlson, Inc., producer of stainless steel, nickel alloy plate and plate products. He is President of the Gunard Berry Carlson Memorial Foundation, Inc. and has served on the boards of several community and charitable organizations. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Saint Francis University, and is a lifelong area resident.
