Swimmers nab Ches-Mont American title; Drohan wins 500 Freestyle

Unionville's Matt Drohan at the top of the podium at winning the 500-meter freestyle at this weekend's District 1 swim meet in Philadelphia.
Unionville High School sent 20 swimmers and diver to districts competition. Diving took place last weekend and Senior Jonas Raider took 12th in the Mens diving competition and is currently the UHS record holder. On Ladies side, Freshman McKayla Mawn placed 18th and broke her own school record set previously this season. Brittany Stivale placed 38th overall!
At the District Swim Meet held this weekend at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, the Indians had an impressive showing. Junior Matt Drohan captured First Place in the 500 Freestyle and at the same time broke the school record. Drohan will be headed to States in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle. Brandon Smiddy finished an impressive 7th in 500 free. On the ladies side, Sophomore Mackenzie Hornibrook will be heading to states for the 100 Freestyle placing 7th and 13th in the 100fly, Senior Laura Stephens qualified for both the 200IM/5th place and the 100 Back placing 6th and Senior Kendall Somer qualified for the 100 Breastroke with a 7th place finish. The Medley Relay also Qualified for States.(Somer, Hornibrook, Stephens, Werkiser) Erin Polries broke the 500 Freestyle record finishing 11th and Laura Stephens broke both the 200IM record and 100 Back record.
Both the Girls and Boys won the Ches-Mont League American Division Title!
