Woman unloading groceries in Westtown reportedly victimized
On New Year’s Eve at 4:38 p.m. a 66-year-old female attempting to put groceries into her vehicle became the victim of a purse-snatcher, Westtown-East Goshen Township Police.
Police said the woman was in the parking lot of the Westtown Acme, located at the intersection of Rts. 202 and 926 when a man reached into the open car door, snatched the purse, and entered the passenger’s side of a newer model, silver or olive Nissan Murano with unknown registration. The getaway vehicle exited the parking lot onto Rt. 926 eastbound toward Rt. 202; the Murano was last seen driving north on 202 toward West Chester, police said.
The suspect was described as a black male, aged 20 to 25, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt and unknown color knit hat, police said. Witnesses did not see the driver, police said. The stolen purse contained an Apple iPhone 4S, Barnes and Noble Nook tablet, assorted credit cards, a set a car keys, and cosmetics, police said.
On Wednesday, Jan. 1, at noon, the stolen purse and some of its contents were recovered off the roadway in the 1700 block of Middletown Road in Glen Mills, police said. The Apple iPhone and Barnes and Noble Nook tablet were not recovered and the investigating is continuing.
