Bragging rights for the best salsa went to El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant during last month’s ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving! Event, a news release from La Comunidad Hispana said.

The debut faceoff featured seven local Mexican restaurants, each of which prepared fresh salsa for the Sept. 28 competition at Anson B. Nixon Park. Those attending the event voted for their favorite.

The seven competitors were El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant, La Peña Mexicana, Plaza Azteca, La Herradura, Taqueria Moroleon, Mi Cocina Mexicana, and La Michoacana Grill, the release said.
