Unionville grad on world stage for rowing – again

 Nathan Smith to represent U.S. for U23 World Championship Regatta

Nathan Smith, a 2013 Unionville High graduate, qualified for the U23 World Championship Regatta in Austria.

For the second year in a row, 2013 Unionville High School graduate Nathan Smith will represent the U.S. in rowing. Smith has qualified for the U23 World Championship Regatta, the Newport Rowing Club announced.

This year’s regatta will be held in Austria at the end of this month. Last year, Smith competed in the World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria at the junior level; this year he will be participating at the U23 level (mostly collegiate athletes). As a U.S. National Team member, Smith will be rowing with pair partner Ryan Kelleher of Colgate University.

Smith will be attending the University of California – Berkeley  this fall, where he will be pursuing an engineering degree and rowing. While at UHS, Smith rowed for the Newport Rowing Club, which includes almost 30 UHS and Patton athletes.
