The cashier placed the three requested cartons of Newport cigarettes on the counter, police said, but was unable to ring up the sale because the buyer reportedly snatched the boxes and dashed out of the convenience store.

Police said the alleged theft occurred at the West Goshen Wawa in the 1000 block of West Chester Pike on Saturday at 11:24 p.m., and they are looking for the public’s assistance to identify the suspect.

The man was observed entering a light-colored sedan and fleeing the parking lot westbound on West Chester Pike. Anyone who thinks they may recognize him is asked to call the West Goshen Township Police Department at 610-696-7400.
