Cool sounds in a cool setting combine for a worthy cause on Wednesday night at the Galer Estates Winery in East Marlborough Township.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., the Chester County Art Association (CCAA) is presenting an evening of jazz with Cuba’s hottest, young piano-playing sensation, Jorge Luis Pacheco, 28. Among Pacheco’s accomplishments: In October 2010, he was invited by world-famous musicians Wynton Marsalis and Chucho Valdés to guest star with the Jazz Orchestra at Lincoln Center during its performance at the Mella Theater of Havana.

A pianist, percussionist, composer and musical director, Pacheco has also performed in Cuba, Germany, Spain, Italy, Barbados, Brazil, Canada and Switzerland, all to rave reviews.  Additionally, he is a first-place winner at the International Competition of Young Jazz Musicians and was a finalist in the 2009 International Jazz Competition in Montreux, Switzerland.

Pacheco is currently completing his fifth year studying composition at the Institute of Superior Arts in Havana, where he is pursuing his master’s degree, according to his web site.

The Art Association is asking for donations at the door for this event; proceeds will go to CCAA’s upcoming renovations. There will be a cash bar at the winery, which is located at 700 Folly Hill Road, Kennett Square.

The Chester County Art Association is a non-profit, cultural organization that has been promoting participation in the arts through quality instruction, exhibitions, and community outreach since 1931. Located at 100 N. Bradford Ave., West Chester, it is open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; admission is free.   The association’s Exton Square Studio is located on the first floor of the Exton Square Mall near Boscov’s. Hours are Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
