State police from Avondale investigating the incident
An East Marlborough Township woman reported on Friday that someone had cut a phone line to her residence in the 400 block of Dean Drive, state police from the Avondale barracks said. The woman, who did not see anyone suspicious, said she realized the line had been severed after speaking with the phone company, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.
A Kennett Square resident was charged with driving under the influence on May 26 at 9:35 p.m., said state police from the Avondale barracks. Matthew J. Scott, 18, was arrested on U.S. 1 at West Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township, police said.
While the owner of a 2008 Toyota Yaris was parked at the Whip Tavern on Sunday at 3:24 p.m., an unknown vehicle backed out of a parking space, hit the unoccupied Toyota and fled, traveling north on North Chatham Road, said state police from the Avondale barracks.
State police said they responded to a two-vehicle crash on Thursday at 6:36 a.m. It occurred as Marlene H. Taylor, 59, of Cochranville, was traveling east on Hood Road and failed to stop at a sign at the intersection with Rt. 841 in West Marlborough Township, police said. Taylor’s 2010 Lexus RX350 struck the driver’s side door of a 2011 Peterbilt 379, which was traveling north on Rt. 841, police said. Taylor, who sustained minor injury, was cited for ignoring the stop sign, police said.
No one was injured, but the driver who caused a three-vehicle accident on Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township on Thursday at 7:13 a.m. fled the scene, state police said. The crash occurred just north of Onix Drive when an unknown gold sedan changed lanes into the path of a 2012 Ford F250, which braked hard but was struck from behind by a 2003 Honda Civic. The Ford sustained minor damage, but the Honda had major front-end damage and had to be towed, state police said.
A faulty turn from U.S. 1 caused a crash on Saturday at 10:39 p.m. in East Marlborough Township, state police said. A 2009 Honda Fit operated by Janine T. Coutu, 18, of Avondale, was struck by a northbound vehicle as Coutu attempted to turn onto Orchard Avenue from the southbound lane, police said. Coutu was cited for failing to turn safely, police said.
