Parents, school officials and organizers of the Unionville High School After-Prom gathered earlier this month to thank Scott Honda for its donation of a 2004 Honda Civic as a prize at the event. EAST MARLBOROUGH —Between working around construction in 2011 and needing to be held off-site in 2012, because of the ongoing renovations to Unionville High School, the last couple of After-Prom events have had a bit of an improvised feel to them, as the teams of volunteers either had to work around a construction site, or an unfamiliar building.

But for 2013, the After-Prom can come home — and residents are invited to the annual pre-event walk through May 18th from 6:30-8:30 pm, with the actual event taking place from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The theme remains a closely guarded secret, but indications are that this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.

The After Prom Committee — largely made up of parents of Unionville High School students — has worked for months to create this year’s event. Like many years before, parents and volunteers have been hard at work transforming the high school into a theme-oriented event.

The After-Prom was created in an effort to keep students safe — and give them a fun, post-prom destination.  The all-night event offers students a memorable opportunity to join their friends in a safe and fun environment while providing activities, food and surprises. Numerous prizes and games will highlight the evening, which offers all sorts of unique entertainment opportunities, from games to movies to music and more. Throughout the night, prizes will be given away.

In what is usually the most anticipated moment of the night — and now a tradition — one lucky student will win a used car from Scott Honda in West Chester. This year’s car is a 2004 Honda Civic EX couple. The freshly painted black two-door has a sunroof and looks to be a solid car for a young person. The car has been on display in front of the high school throughout the month of May — and one lucky student will find themselves with the keys to the car sometime next week.
