Former Chester County District Attorney Joseph W. Carroll Jr. is hoping to deliver some cheer to animals in need through a fund-raiser on Thursday.

After decades of practicing law, former District Attorney Joseph W. Carroll Jr. will try his hand at a different kind of bar on Thursday.

Carroll will serve as a guest bartender at a fund-raiser for the Veterinary Comparative Oncology Research Foundation (VCORF), a West Goshen Township-based organization that focuses on subsidizing care for animals in need and promoting research on cancer prevention and treatment.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the BBC Tavern and Grill, 4019 Kennett Pike Greenville, De.,  19807. Carroll said 100 percent of tips will go to the foundation, and a raffle will be held for a basket of cheer. To receive a tax benefit, participants should write out a check to the Veterinary Comparative Oncology Research Foundation (or VCORF) in the amount of the gratuity. Tips will also be accepted by cash or credit card.

For those who cannot make the event but would like to make a donation, checks can be mailed to VCORF at 739 E. Nields St. West Chester, 19382. During the event, BBC will donate 10 percent of any dinner bill for patrons who write “VCORF” on their check when paying.
