Indians notch 10th win of the season with a nail-biter
DOWNINGTOWN — Three early runs proved to be just enough enough as the Unionville High School baseball team held on for a tense 3-2 win over Downingtown East, Monday.
The Indians (10-2, 10-1 in Ches Mont play) posted a three-spot in the first inning — keyed by Kyle Fries two-run double. Fries finished the game 2-for-4.
Unionville again got a strong pitching performance, as Andrew Jones pitched six innings, striking out six and walking none. Fries then came in and closed the game out by striking out the side in the seventh. Catcher Kyle Langerhans finished 3-for-4 with a run scored.
The Indians resume play on Wednesday at Octorara.
