Police in Birmingham, Westtown alerted to problem
Erratic driving in Westtown and Birmingham Townships on Friday led to criminal charges for a West Chester man, Westtown-East Goshen police said Monday.
Police in both townships received a report at 11:44 p.m. Friday that a blue Ford SUV, which had been traveling northbound on Rt. 202 approaching Rt. 926, entered Westtown Township, made a U-turn, and proceeded southbound on Rt. 202, police said.
A Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department officer observed the Ford make a right-hand turn onto Rt. 926 westbound and collide with an eastbound vehicle stopped on Rt. 926 for the light at Rt. 202, police said, adding that the other driver was not injured. The blue Ford failed to stop after hitting the other vehicle and continued to drive westbound on Rt. 926.
The Ford’s driver, Michael J. Logan, 28, of West Chester, was eventually stopped, police said. After failing several field sobriety tests, he was arrested for driving under the influence and the hit-and-run accident along with traffic violations, police said. He will receive a summons to appear for a preliminary hearing.
