Recent survey includes insight into drug, alcohol abuse
Drugs, alcohol and tobacco: Which students are doing what, when, and where? Those are some of the topics that will be explored at a symposium sponsored by FOCUS and the Unionville Chadds Ford Education Foundation.
The program, which will be held Thursday, April 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the C.F. Patton Middle School auditorium, will present the results of the recent Pennsylvania Youth Survey of sixth-, eighth-,10th-, and 12th-grade students, a project that solicited information about the students’ behavior and knowledge concerning alcohol, drugs, tobacco, mental health, and bullying.
Jacquelyn Taylor, executive director of the COAD Group, and Jim Fulginiti, Patton’s assistant principal, will discuss the survey results for Unionville-Chadds Ford and Chester County students as well as the statewide numbers.
The findings will be followed by small-group discussions facilitated by a variety of community professionals, who will focus on how to identify these risky behaviors as well as how to guard against them. The program is free, but space is limited. To reserve a seat, register at http://www.riskybusinessucf.eventbrite.com.
