Newlin’s Claire Werkiser named Pa. Fair Queen

HERSHEY — Claire Werkiser, a senior at Unionville High School from Newlin, was crowned Pennsylvania Farm Queen, Saturday night.

Werkiser won the the title of Unionville Fair Queen in September, 2010. She beat out more than 60 other contestants from around the state in winning the title, Saturday night.

Werkiser is an aspiring model, and is active in various activities at Unionville High School, including the National Honor Society, Student Council and the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance.

Pennsylvania is home to 115 county and community fairs stretching from April until October. The fair queen travels the state representing Pennsylvania’s rich agricultural heritage and serving as an ambassador for the fair association.
