KENNETT SQUARE — If you haven’t started or have questions about preparing your income taxes – help is just a phone call away. Oh, and here’s the best part – it’s FREE, confidential, and you don’t have to buy a program or pick from an a-la-carte menu for services.
The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program is here to help by offering free, confidential services to assist in preparing your Federal, State and Local tax returns. All tax preparers are volunteers who received extensive training and have successfully passed an IRS certification test.
Although originally developed to assist low to moderate income seniors, the program welcomes all age and income levels.
Federal and state returns are prepared and electronically filed at no charge; however, taxpayers with “complex” returns will be advised to seek professional tax assistance.
The Kennett Area Senior Center is the local AARP Tax-Aide site. Tax-Aide volunteers are available by appointment, most Tuesdays and Fridays from 9am-3pm from now through April 15 by calling 610-444-4819.
Other centers are located in Oxford, Downingtown, Coatesville and West Chester. Their hours of operation can be found at www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide.
