Annual run raises money for area charities

KENNETT SQUARE — On Saturday, the borough was taken over by a lively and sporty event involving thousands of people in our area.
Route 82 in Kennett was filled with all ages and from the extended local area, all for The Kennett Run. Eventually after a bit of time and some suffering(hills!) the community event ended up at a big party in the lovely Anson B. Nixon Park.
Saturday’s event was a big success once again for the race director and her committee of all volunteers who work hard all year long to pull off this large racing event.
The Power Run this year was dedicated to Joe Hector, a beloved friend to many who organize and run the race. Joe worked at the YMCA and was a fitness expert who befriended all who worked out at the Y and had a smile consistently on his face. Sadly Joe passed away a year ago in April. The Powe Run is an event that is combined with either the 5 k or 10 k and time is subtracted from your overall time depending on how many reps you lifted of your total weight of the men and a percentage of their weight for the women.
The money that is raised from the event is divided up between charity groups in our area. The sign at the stage said they have granted 536 k since the event has been established.
All results for each race from Saturday can be viewed below. Nova Systems was able to fix the glitch that occurred in the timing system.
