EAST MARLBOROUGH — The organizers behind the Willowdale Steeplechase announced this week that $55,000 was donated to local charities, funds raised by the annual Steeplechase event in May.

The funds will go to: The Stroud Water Research Center, Quest Therapeutic Services, Inc. and The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine New Bolton Center.  The fund will be used to provide services to local residents as well as continuing ongoing advanced research that will benefit the global community.

Every admission ticket, parking space, program and souvenir sold at The Willowdale Steeplechase gives back to the greater  community.

In recent years, proceeds from The Willowdale Steeplechase events have helped build a state-of-the-art facility for disabled children at Quest Therapeutic Services, Inc. The Stroud Water Research Center has been able to further its research and education efforts to protect local fresh water systems as a result of contributions from The Willowdale Steeplechase. The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine continues to train students and conduct ground-breaking research at New Bolton Center with funds raised from the races.

The event organizers offered thanks you to  to all who attended, volunteered, raced, placed an advertisement or helped sponsor the races this year.  Next year’s event is scheduled for May 11, 2014.
